Yesterday was Yee Teng’s last few moments in Malaysia, then off to US she flies for university. A few of the sheep, mix and mix some from band, and then some more from her college, we gathered at KLIA to send her off. We had a few last laughs with stupidly cracked jokes and puns (I’m a fan, but WHO ISN’T?).
McD in her eyes.
Awh and when Jocelyn took the uke out with the first notes of ‘Happy Birthday’, that was it. The entire mood of yellow cheery McD’s dived into this sad, wistful, murmuring softly sung Happy Birthday To Yee Teng. I swear, if I wasn’t already crying by then, I was definitely tearing up. We could tell she was struggling so hard not to burst out sobbing right there. Oh my god, even looking at these pictures again, how many times have I gone through them in my computer, makes me tear up. After we finished the song, a quiet still momentary absorbing-everything-in-this-is-a-MOMENT mood hung in the air. Even the people munching on their fries and nuggets from the opposite tables stopped to clap.
I love airports. Their high ceilings, bright perfect lighting (did you see all the pics above SPOT ON gr8 lighting!), straight escalators, escalators that make you feel like pushing the person in front of you tumbling down, just the general wide space of it.
Anyhow, Yee Teng’s going off to US, it’s a happy-sad-exciting thing! New environment, new people, new four seasons, new Jersey,
new York, new Hampshire,
Everyone will definitely be missing her a lot. Finding yourself occasionally wondering ‘hmm let’s meet up’ but ‘oh you’re 9213939423 miles away’. Skype and texting just isn’t the same with face to face actual catching up. SO COME BACK SOON, YESH. :)
